a life well lived

Abe Dombar standing outside our house at the 1988 Paddock Hills Centennial celebration. photo by susan rissover
A couple of weeks ago, we lost one of the great ones, Architect and designer extraordinaire Abrom Dombar. Abe designed our first house, a fabulous usonian ranch in Paddock Hills. I can honestly credit his kindness and generosity in talking the time to meet with and talk to us as the springboard for our life and career in modernism. Check out these vintage photos of us and our Dombar house:

arlen rissover, susan rissover, abe dombar. photo circa 1988. this photo was taken in the living room of our dombar designed house in paddock hills. i believe i was newly pregnant (with my now 21 year old son!) in this photo.

the abrams house by abe dombar circa 1949. we purchased the house in 1986 and lived there until 1991.

.his vintage photo was taken from the second floor of abe’s own house, which was directly behind our house. best porch ever!
