ch ch ch ch changes…..
In real estate like many things, the only constant is change. In my nearly 20 years as a licensed agent, I have seen technology change in ways we could have never imagined. Consumer searching habits have changed drastically, deals are now done completely paperless, and social media networking have taken over the business. When I was licensed in 2003, there were no (or very few) teams, and as far as I know, I was the very first agent in the Cincinnati market to brand my business (cincinnatimodern). The business is now dominated by branded teams.
For decades, real estate was done the same way. In the last 20 years, it has done nothing but change. And change can be good. But there are also costs and growing pains associated with progress. You may have noticed over the past few weeks that listings on our moderns on the market, amberley village homes, and cincy lake homes pages have been not showing up or showing up sporadically.
We are painfully aware of this and are working with our behind the scenes team to rectify. The issue at the heart is that the Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (formerly Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors) and the Cincinnati MLS (the Multiple Listing Service that we all use) are changing their MLS vendor. Rapattoni has supplied our MLS feed to agents and the 3rd party sites (Zillow, Trulia, Realtor, along with all of our company and agent sites) for the past 25+ years since the system transition from printed books to real time online content. But it has maxed out its capacity to evolve with the business.
A very long process of vetting and interviewing MLS vendors culminated last year with initiating a switch to a new age platform called Perchwell. It promises to offer agents in our market with enhanced search and statistical research ability, more photo and data storage and an all around more modern approach. And that switch is going on behind the scenes as we agents carry on with our daily business with the old system. It has hit us here at cincinnatimodern particularly hard because we have gone the extra step with this website to offer our clients access to mls searches and real time listing data. As our technology partners are preparing for the switch over, we are dealing with these glitches. Rest assured, it will be up and running smoothly soon. And as agents, we still have access to all of the proper data. We are working hard to present cincinnatimodern to you, our clients, in the most updated way possible.
While we can’t predict where the market is going, we can be certain that the systems that power our business are always evolving and improving. Thanks for continuing to visit this site during this transition. and allowing us to do what we love – represent great houses, and the people who love them!
